The Australian Government Rebate (AGR) on private health insurance was introduced in 1999 to encourage more people to take our private health insurance. The Government may pay up to 32% of cost of your private health insurance, depending on your age and how much you earn.
On 1 July 2023, the income thresholds that are used to calculate the private health insurance rebate increased – by around $3,000 for singles and $6,000 for families. These increases mean that depending on your income level, you may be eligible for a higher rebate on your private health insurance.
